Chile has unique climatic conditions that are ideal for growing peonies in the open field, without greenhouses. A favorable climate with mild winters and warm summers allows peonies to develop in optimal conditions. Nutrient-rich soil also plays an important role, which promotes healthy plant growth. Peonies are hand-picked to minimize damage to the flowers. Once harvested, the flowers are carefully sorted and processed to ensure freshness and quality. This season, Chilean growers have taken a number of early measures to eliminate potential problems related to the bud cutting point that were unfortunately observed last year. Peony farms assure that their flowers now meet the required standards for bud opening stage, size, and stem length. The farms accept orders 7-9 days before the scheduled departure date to ensure fulfillment and flight space availability. From late October to December, Chilean growers will offer various peony varieties in rotation.
