Interest in exotic flowers continues to grow as a result of a possible transformation in demand: traditional categories are saturated, florists are looking for visually expressive forms, and buyers are increasingly choosing unique and non-standard floral solutions. Proteas are once again available to expand the range, enhance the visual appeal, and work with higher price segments of the market.
After a seasonal break, Christmas and New Year holidays on farms, as well as the natural cycle of protea dormancy, the exotic flower market is gradually entering an active phase again
We are pleased to announce that the protea season from South Africa is resuming, and the first four varieties are already available for order at the start of the season:
- Carnival : 50–80 cm, packaging 60–70 stems/box SJB
- Pink Ice : 50–60 cm, packaging 70–80 stems/box SJB
- Sharon : 50–70 cm, packaging 60–80 stems/box SJB
- Ivy : 60–70 cm, packaging 160–180 stems/box SJB
The number of stems in a box varies within the specified ranges depending on the length of the flower.
Please note that the availability of specific protea varieties may vary depending on the season and time of year, so below is a table showing the availability of these varieties by month.
Currently, proteas are only available in boxes of single varieties, mixes are not yet available.
As at the beginning of any seasonal cycle, market volumes are still limited. Over the coming weeks, the range will gradually expand. Maximum variety is expected in March–April, when the protea season reaches its peak.
Harvesting, sorting, and preparing proteas requires additional time, so it is recommended to plan orders in advance.
Daoflowers managers are always ready to clarify the current availability of varieties and suggest the earliest possible delivery dates. We recommend including protea in your seasonal planning and using its potential to create a distinctive and competitive offering.
