Production shortages in Kenya - an opportunity to buy favorable super promos in Ecuador 30-05-2025 / News

This week, the flower market continues to show significant differences in the situation between the main fresh cut flower growing countries. Key factors such as climate conditions, demand level and seasonal trends are having a significant impact on the market, prompting a possible temporary revision of purchasing strategies.

The falling-off of flower production is particularly acute in Kenya, where the winter season has begun. As in previous years, it is accompanied by cold weather and continuous rain, but this year the weather conditions had a particularly strong impact. As a result, flower production has fallen sharply. At the same time, there is a seasonal extraordinary demand from customers from Arab countries, actively buying Kenyan flowers for the Kurban Bayram holiday, that this year falls on June 6-10.

This has created a serious shortage of the flower in the Kenyan market. Farms confirm orders with difficulty, and some growers have no product left to offer on the open market. The shortage of spray rose and garden spray rose is particularly severe - they are almost not available. There is a little more standard rose available, but volumes are also far from sufficient. This winter season in Kenya is forecast to be atypically cold and wet, but let us still hope for improved weather conditions.

Presumably, next week the tension in the market will ease a little - this is due to the completion of an active procurement campaign for Kurban Bayram, which will allow to partially redistribute the available volumes of flower production.

In contrast to Kenya, Ecuador pleases with high production volumes, especially roses. There is a sharp decline in prices - the market offers are extremely favorable, farms actively negotiate prices, and this creates favorable conditions for buyers. Almost all rose positions are available, including popular varieties of the wedding season - Playa Blanca, White Ohara, Pink Ohara, Candy Xpression and others. However, these items sell out faster and cost more, but overall the price level remains very attractive.

Dozens of interesting promotional offers from Ecuadorian farms are presented daily on our trading web platform, which makes it possible to effectively compensate for the shortage of Kenyan roses.

However, against the backdrop of the wedding season, the demand for gypsophila has increased significantly. There is practically no free volume on open market - it is almost impossible to buy products day in day out. We recommend placing your orders in advance, at least 5-7 days before the expected date of departure from the farm.

In Ecuador the production of carnations both red and color has stabilized. Farms offer interesting items at good prices. The available offers are regularly updated on our platform - you can find standard varieties as well as novelties.

Daoflowers continues to monitor the situation on the flower markets and please its customers with the most tentative offers on our online platform every day.
